4-H members and open-class exhibitors are busy all year preparing to show their animals at the Fair. In addition to regular project meetings and field days, 4-H members invest hundreds of hours over the year with daily feeding, cleaning and handling of the project animals, in order to prepare them for the annual Fair. At the Fair, allanimals are judged by professional livestock evaluators, and those that meet established market quality standards will be auctioned on Saturday. The 4-H programs are designed to teach their members valuable leadership skills that will benefit them in any career they may choose. The animal projects teach them the meaning of responsibility, hard work and the basics of running a small business.
We encourage everyone to come to the auction and support the exhibitors or make a purchase to help our young people meet their goals and reward them for all of their hard work and commitment to becoming the leaders of tomorrow. Please consider registering as a buyer for this year’s auction. If this is your first time and have questions, a member of our Livestock Committee would be happy to speak with you and answer any questions.
